Additional call for applications for conference purposes in the spring semester of the academic year 2024/2025

The University of Debrecen, in the framework of the Pannonia Scholarship Programme, invites applications for the support of staff mobility for conference purposes for the spring semester of the academic year 2024/25.

1. Aim of the application

To support the University of Debrecen staff mobility for teaching/lecturing purposes at conferences.

2. Subject of the application

University of Debrecen staff members may apply to present a paper/workshop included in the official programme of a given conference. The supported duration of the conference participation cannot be less than 2 days and cannot exceed 5 days (one travel day may be included in the duration of the mobility and in the duration of the grant.

The host institution cannot be in the country of residence of the applicant.

3. Eligible activities

  • Conference participation as a speaker (2-5 days)

Participants will receive a grant (scholarship) for their conference activities abroad. The amount of the grant depends on the duration of the activity and the country of destination. Applicants should note that the grant does not necessarily cover the costs of travel and stay abroad, but only contributes to the costs of attending the conference abroad, and therefore other additional funding may be required.
If the applicant is an employee of the host university or if the host university partly or fully funds the costs of travel and/or subsistence, the lecturer is not eligible for a grant.

4. Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Hungarian citizen (or a long-term resident or refugee in Hungary);
  • a full-time or part-time employee of the University of Debrecen

5. Deadline and how to submit your application:

Application deadline: midnight 28 February 2025, end of each month thereafter

Attention! Until the available funding is exhausted, applications for conference mobility will be accepted on a rolling basis until the end of the academic year and will be evaluated at the end of each month.

Applications that are incomplete or not in due form will be rejected.

6. Documents to be attached:

  • the work plan approved by the Dean/Head of Department/Head of the Institute, which includes:
    • in case of conference participation, the abstract of the planned presentation
  • a document certifying language proficiency equivalent to the language of instruction
  • CV
  • a copy of the letter of acceptance/invitation/proof of acceptance of the abstract

7. Additional documents required for the conclusion of the grant agreement:

In the case of an awarded grant, the University of Debrecen will conclude a grant agreement with the applicant, the terms of which are set out in the following documents:

  • a Mobility Agreement signed by all three parties (applicant, representatives of the sending and host institutions) (Download a sample: https://internationaloffice.unideb.hu/en/useful-information
  • a signed travel authorisation
  • a bank account certificate containing the following information: name of the account holder, bank name and SWIFT code, IBAN bank account number, currency of the bank account
  • EU Health Card or valid insurance

8. Evaluation of the applications submitted:

The International Office and the faculty mobility coordinators will evaluate the applications submitted, taking into account the relevant evaluation criteria of each faculty and the available resources.
Applicants will be notified by e-mail if their application has been accepted or rejected.

9. Additional conditions

Applicants may undertake a maximum of one mobility per academic year with the support of the programme, except when they are part of a group study trip with a group of students (e.g. a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)) and have a teaching assignment at the host institution.

Participation in a conference where the applicant does not give a presentation, i.e. where the applicant does not actively contribute to the conference, is not eligible.
