The University of Debrecen is announcing a call for applications under the Pannonia Scholarship Program for mobility opportunities related to conference presentations for the 2026–27 academic year.
1. Aim of the programme
To support the educational/lecturing mobility of University of Debrecen staff at conferences.
2. Purpose of the call
In this call for applications, a staff member of the University of Debrecen may apply as a presenter of a lecture or workshop included in the official program of a specific conference. The duration of conference participation eligible for funding must be at least 2 days and no longer than 5 days (in addition, depending on the distance, one travel day may be included in the mobility period or the scholarship funding period). The host institution cannot be in the applicant's country of residence.

3. Eligible activites
- Conference presentation (2-5 days)
Participants receive financial support (a grant) to carry out their activities related to attending conferences abroad. The amount of the grant depends on the duration of the activity and the destination country. We would like to draw applicants’ attention to the fact that the grant does not necessarily cover the costs of travel and stay abroad; it merely contributes to making participation in the international conference possible, so additional funding may be required.
If the applicant is an employee of the host university, or if the host university covers all or part of the travel and/or living expenses, the employee is not eligible for the scholarship.
4. Who can apply?
Those who meet the following conditions are eligible to submit an application:
- a Hungarian citizen (or a person residing in Hungary with a long-term residence permit or as a refugee);
- a full-time or part-time employee of the University of Debrecen
5. Deadline and method for submitting applications:
Application deadline: the last day of each month
Please note! Until the available funding is exhausted, we will continue to accept applications for conference-related mobility until the end of the academic year; these applications will be reviewed at the end of each month.
Applications can be submitted via the University of Debrecen’s online portal by fully completing the online application form and uploading the listed attachments.
Applications that are incomplete or do not meet the formal requirements will be rejected.
6. Documents to be attached:
- a work plan approved by the dean/department chair/institute director, which includes:
- in case of participating in the conference, please submit an abstract of your planned presentation
- a document certifying proficiency in the language of instruction
- CV
- a copy of the acceptance letter/invitation/document confirming acceptance of the abstract
7. Additional documents required to enter into the grant agreement:
If the grant is awarded, the University of Debrecen will enter into a grant agreement with the applicant, the terms of which are set forth in the following documents:
- A mobility agreement signed by all three parties (the applicant and representatives of the sending and receiving institutions) (Downloadable template: https://internationaloffice.unideb.hu/en/useful-information)
- Signed travel order
- bank account statement containing the following information: account holder's name, bank name and SWIFT code, IBAN, and currency of the bank account
- EU Health Insurance Card or valid travel insurance
8. Evaluation of the submitted applications:
Applications are evaluated by the Centre for International Relations and the faculty mobility coordinators, taking into account the relevant evaluation criteria of each faculty and the available resources.
Applicants will be notified by email whether their application has been accepted or rejected.
Application deadline: rolling, at least two months before the start of the mobility period
Evaluation deadline: early in the month following submission
9. Additional Terms and Conditions
An applicant may undertake no more than one mobility activity per academic year with funding from the program, unless they are participating in a group study trip with a group of students (e.g., the Pannonia Group Study Trip, Blended Intensive Program (BIP)), during which they also perform teaching duties at the host institution.
Participation in a conference is not eligible for funding if the applicant does not give a presentation or lead a workshop—that is, if they do not actively contribute to the conference.
