Call for applications for conference presentation mobility for the 2025/2026 academic year

The University of Debrecen is announcing a call for applications under the Pannonia Scholarship Program for conference presentations for the 2025/26 academic year.

1. Aim of the program

To support the educational/lecturing mobility of staff members of the University of Debrecen at conferences.

2. Purpose of the call

Employees of the University of Debrecen may apply for the grant as speakers/workshop leaders in the official program of a given conference. The supported duration of conference participation cannot be less than 2 days and cannot exceed 5 days (in addition, depending on the distance, one travel day may be included in the mobility period and the scholarship support period).More information: https://internationaloffice.unideb.hu/en/pannonia-scholarship-programme-amounts-support

The host institution cannot be located in the applicant's country of residence.

3. Eligible activities

  • Conference participation as a speaker (2-5 days)

Participants receive support (scholarships) for their activities related to conferences abroad. The amount of the scholarship depends on the duration of the activity and the destination country. Applicants should note that the grant does not necessarily cover the costs of travel and accommodation abroad, but only contributes to the cost of participating in the conference abroad, so additional resources may be required.
If the applicant is an employee of the host university, or if the host university finances part or all of the travel and/or accommodation costs, the employee is not eligible for a scholarship.

4. Who can apply?

Those who meet the following conditions are eligible to submit an application:

  • Hungarian citizen (or residing in Hungary with a long-term residence permit or as a refugee);
  • full-time or part-time employee of the University of Debrecen

5. Deadline and method for submitting applications:

Deadline for submitting applications: August 30, 2025, midnight, then the last day of every month thereafter

Attention! Until the available funding has been exhausted, we will continue to accept applications for conference-related mobility until the end of the academic year, which will be evaluated at the end of each month.

Applications can be submitted on the University of Debrecen's online platform by completing the online application form in full and uploading the listed attachments.

Incomplete or formally incorrect applications will be rejected.

6. Documents to be attached:

  • a work plan approved by the dean/department head/institute director, which includes:
    • in the case of conference participation, the abstract of the planned presentation
  • document certifying language proficiency equivalent to the language of instruction
  • CV
  • acceptance statement/invitation/copy of document confirming acceptance of abstract

7. Additional documents required for concluding the grant agreement:

If the grant is awarded, the University of Debrecen will conclude a grant agreement with the applicant, the terms and conditions of which are set out in the following documents:

  • mobility agreement signed by all three parties (applicant, sending institution and host institution) (Downloadable template: https://internationaloffice.unideb.hu/en/useful-information
  • signed travel authorisation
  • bank account statement containing the following information: account holder's name, bank name and SWIFT code, IBAN bank account number,  bank account currency
  • EU TAJ card or valid travel insurance

8. Evaluation of submitted applications:

Applications will be evaluated by the International Office and faculty mobility coordinators, taking into account the relevant evaluation criteria of each faculty and the available resources.
Applicants will be notified by email whether their application has been accepted or rejected.

9. Additional conditions

An applicant may undertake a maximum of one mobility activity per academic year with the support of the program, except in the case of group study trips (e.g., Pannonia group study trip, Blended Intensive Program (BIP)), in which the applicant also performs teaching duties at the host institution.

Participation in conferences where the applicant does not give a presentation or lead a workshop, i.e. does not actively contribute to the conference, is not eligible for support.
