1. Aim of the call

The purpose of the program is to enable students to gain educational, linguistic, and cultural experiences at a higher education institution in a partner country. Study-related mobility should contribute to the student’s academic progress and the development of their personal skills.

2. Eligible Applicants

Enrolled students at the University of Debrecen (bachelor’s, master’s, integrated, doctoral, and higher vocational programs; full-time and part-time programs) who hold active student status. Individuals with doctoral candidate status are not eligible to apply. Students receiving the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship may not participate in long-term mobility programs during their studies.

3. Eligible Activities

Activities eligible for funding under this call for proposals:

• A one-semester (2–6 months) study-related mobility program for higher education students aimed at earning credits (part of a degree program) or a professional internship at a partner institution abroad, based on an inter-institutional agreement 
• A clinical rotation of at least 2 months in the sixth year, completed by students enrolled in the general medicine program at a teaching hospital of a partner university abroad, pursuant to an inter-institutional agreement. 

The mobility program must be carried out between January 1, 2027, and August 31, 2027.

Attention! You may only apply for positions that are available for selection in the online application system! If all available positions at a partner institution received successful applications during the Spring 2026 application round, that partner institution will not appear among the institutions available for selection.

4. Application Requirements

General Terms and Conditions of Participation

• The student is an active student at the University of Debrecen, meaning he or she is pursuing a degree through either full-time or correspondence study.
• The student is a Hungarian citizen or holds a valid residence permit for the duration of the application process and the stay abroad.
• The destination for scholarship-based mobility may be chosen from among those partner institutions with which the University of Debrecen has a valid bilateral inter-institutional agreement. 
• The student passed the institutional evaluation.
• The student possesses the necessary language proficiency (in the language of instruction at the partner university) and can provide credible proof of this during the application review process.
• The total duration of mobility in a single study cycle is limited to 12 months. An undivided master's degree program spans two cycles; therefore, for an undivided degree program, the maximum total duration of mobility is 24 months.
• Before beginning studies abroad, a written study agreement with mutually agreed-upon terms must be signed. The activities undertaken during the mobility period must be consistent with the student’s study plan.
• At the end of the study period, the host institution abroad must issue a certificate confirming the study program completed and the results achieved.
• The sending institution is obligated to fully accept the activities undertaken, completed, and verified as part of the study agreement.
• During their time abroad, students remain enrolled as full-fledged students at their home institution and are entitled to the academic scholarships, social benefits, or other financial aid to which they are entitled; at the same time, they must fulfill their tuition and other financial obligations to their home institution. They are exempt from tuition fees at the host institution and are entitled to all the rights afforded to all enrolled students at the host institution.
• The student must maintain active student status at the sending institution until the end of the mobility period.

5. Documents Required for Submitting an Application

Attention! Documents must be submitted exclusively in electronic form (scanned copies of the original documents in PDF format) through the online system!

• Submitted Online application: 
• A transcript showing the semesters completed so far in the program (at least 1 semester). For master’s and doctoral programs, if the applicant has not yet completed a semester, a transcript from the last semester of the preceding bachelor’s or master’s program may also be submitted. The certificate must include the courses completed and the scholarship index.
• Proof of language proficiency at least at the B2 level (a language exam certificate demonstrating proficiency in the language of instruction, or a certificate from the language office attesting to language proficiency);
• Professional resume with photo, in Europass format;
• Motivational letter that outlines the applicant’s goals, the program of study, and the university to which the applicant is submitting the application (to be submitted via the online application form);
• Other relevant documents:
  • Proof of academic/TDK work (optional);
  • Proof of student involvement in public life (optional);
  • Recommendation (optional).

Important! Faculties and departments may impose additional requirements on applicants. Please check the specific requirements for each faculty and department before submitting your application!

6. Requirements for studying abroad as part of student academic mobility:

• A positive decision on the application by the relevant faculty committee, as well as approval at the institutional level. A document certifying active student status for the semester of the study abroad program.
• The willingness of the foreign institution to accept the applicant. 
• Before beginning studies abroad, a study agreement with mutually agreed-upon terms must be signed. The study agreement, signed by all three parties (the student, the sending university, and the host university), includes a list of the courses to be taken at the partner university and the courses that will be accepted as equivalents at the University of Debrecen, along with the credit values assigned to them.
• Approval from the Faculty Academic Subcommittee (depending on the department).
• A European Union Health Insurance Card, or health and accident insurance valid in the host country.
• If required by the country in question, a valid student visa issued to the students.

7. Grant amount of support

Funded participants receive a scholarship for the duration of their mobility period.

The University of Debrecen pays the scholarship, subject to the availability of funds, from 1) the Pannónia Scholarship Program or 2) the funds allocated to its projects financed by the Erasmus+ Program.

We would like to remind student applicants that the scholarship may not necessarily cover all expenses incurred during their stay abroad; it may be necessary to supplement it with funds from other sources.
