5. Application conditions

General eligibility criteria

  • The sending and host higher education institutions are ECHE certified.
  • The student is a Hungarian citizen or is studying for a degree at the University of Debrecen on a full-time or part-time basis.
  • The destination of the scholarship mobility can be chosen from among the partner institutions with which the University of Debrecen has a corresponding bilateral inter-institutional agreement and which are available in the online application system of the University of Debrecen.
  • Applicants may nominate up to three partner institutions in their application. The institutions must be indicated in order of preference.
  • The student must have the required language skills (language of the partner institution) and provide credible evidence of this at the time of the assessment of the application. Language support: OLS.
  • The period of study may be combined with an internship, whereby the internship as part of the learning mobility takes place under the supervision of the same host higher education institution as the one where the student is studying. The grant amounts for such a "combined period" are the same as the rates for the study period.
  • Students on a doctoral programme may participate in short (5-30 days) or standard (2-12 months) learning mobility programmes.
  • Learning mobility and placements may be at least partly blended mobility. The virtual component of such mobility may be online cooperative learning or group work.
  • Students may also participate in so-called Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP): these are activities with a minimum of 3 ECTS credits, consisting of a short physical component (5-30 days) and a virtual component.
  • The maximum cumulative duration of mobility in a training cycle is 12 months (even if zero grant mobility). The length of mobility in previous programme phases must be added (even if zero grant mobility). The split training covers two cycles, so the maximum cumulative duration of mobility in a split training cycle is 24 months.
  • A written Learning Agreement for Studies, agreed in terms of content, must be concluded before the start of study abroad. The activities carried out during the mobility must fit in with the student's study plan.
  • At the end of the period of study, the host institution abroad must issue a certificate of completion (transcript of records) of the study programme and the results obtained.
  • The sending institution is obliged to seek full acceptance of the activities undertaken, completed and certified in the Learning Agreement.
  • Students are enrolled as full students at their home institution during their period abroad and are entitled to receive study grants or other loans to which they are entitled, but they must also pay their tuition fees and other fees at the home institution.  They are exempt from tuition fees at the host institution and enjoy the same rights as all students enrolled at the host institution.
  • Students must be active students at the sending institution until the end of their mobility.
