CALL FOR APPLICATIONS for additional financial support for equal opportunities for students participating in Erasmus+ mobility abroad supported under contract KA1-FSO-01220-053/2022

Academic year 2023/2024

The University of Debrecen invites applications for additional financial support for equal opportunities for students studying in higher education who have been awarded an Erasmus+ study, traineeship or short-term mobility grant for the academic year 2023/2024 and who have been awarded a grant under contract KA1-FSO-01220-053/2022 (National Source).

The aim of the Equal Opportunities Grant is to provide equal opportunities for outgoing students with health, cultural, social, economic or geographical barriers to participate in Erasmus+ higher education mobility through additional support.

The supplementary equal opportunities grant may be applied for on the basis of the following criteria, provided that the supporting documents are provided.

1. Persons with medical disabilities (disabled or long-term sick outbound travellers)

In the case of disabled or chronically ill outgoing participants, an additional application for assistance may be submitted if the amount of assistance requested does not exceed HUF 100 000 per month. Itemised billing is not required.
2. Obstacles related to education and training systems

Full-time or correspondence students [To be submitted: copy of any official institutional document confirming the course of study].
You were awarded extra points as a disadvantaged or severely disadvantaged student when applying to higher education. [Document to be provided: supporting document issued by the sending institution]
3. Socially vulnerable groups

Students belonging to a national or ethnic minority recognised in Hungary, in particular members of the Roma ethnic minority. [Document to be submitted: a declaration signed by the outgoing student with his/her original signature and two witnesses]
Hungarian students living as a minority in their country of origin from abroad [Document to be submitted: a declaration signed by the outgoing student with his/her original signature and two witnesses].
Students with refugee status recognised by the Hungarian state.
4. Social barriers

At least one parent/guardian of the applicant does not have a secondary education. [Document to be submitted: student declaration.]
The applicant's parent/guardian. [Document to be provided: birth certificate and declaration of dependent child(ren)]
Students who are in or have left the public care system: students who have been placed in a children's home, a residential home, a foster home or aftercare. [Document to be submitted: declaration of placement in a residential social care institution]
Orphans/orphaned students [Document to be submitted: death certificate of the deceased, in the case of a declaration of death or disappearance: court decision and declaration declaring the deceased dead or missing].
Students living in a large family (the applicant student has 2 or more siblings living in the same household) [Document to be submitted: student's declaration of dependent children].
5. Economic difficulties

[The following criteria (a-h) must be formally certified by the organisation providing the support. A supporting document issued by the relevant organisation must be submitted.]

a) Is or has been a recipient of a Bursa Hungarica Study Scholarship.
b) You are or have been in receipt of a regular or exceptional social grant.
c) Student (former) beneficiary of the HÖOK Mentoring Programme.
d) Beneficiary of the "Pathway to Higher Education" - "Pathway to a Diploma" programme (former).
e) Member of a Roma vocational college (former).
f) Received a basic social education grant at the start of her higher education.
g) Student who received support from the Arany János Talent Support Programme.
h) In the event of a sudden change in social circumstances, e.g. death of the breadwinner, unemployment - e.g. during the COVID-19 epidemic - long-term illness of the breadwinner, accident. [Documents to be submitted: certificate of incapacity to work, certificate of unemployment, death certificate (in the case of a declaration of death or disappearance, a court decision declaring the deceased person dead or missing), in the case of long-term sick leave: medical certificate, statement by the person leaving the country.]
Ii Students who have a paid job and who have lost their salary during their studies or traineeships abroad should expect to lose their salary during the period of mobility.
j) Students in a self-financed course at the time of application [To be submitted: copy of institutional document, notification].
6. Geographical obstacles

The student is a permanent resident of one of the beneficiary municipalities defined by Government Decree 105/2015 (IV.23.) [Document to be submitted: copy of address card]

Who can apply?

Students applying for or successful applicants for an Erasmus+ programme for the academic year 2023/2024 who are enrolled in a study, work placement or short-term mobility programme in their home country.

The amount of the grant

100.000 HUF per month for study mobility and placement mobility. In the case of short-term student mobility, a one-off grant of HUF 40,000 (for mobility of 1-14 days) or HUF 60,000 (for mobility of 15-30 days) in addition to the basic grant awarded. The additional grant is paid by the sending higher education institution.

Documents to be submitted:

Completed individual application form (completed online)
Signed (digital or printed and scanned) version of the required supporting document(s)
A valid application must be submitted using the application form provided, together with the required attachments.

Important information! If the applicant is eligible for more than one of the listed criteria, he/she may indicate this, but only one of them needs to be justified in order to be considered eligible for the additional support.

Funding of applications is subject to the availability of funds.

Evaluation of applications, decision making

The sending higher education institution will be responsible for the evaluation of applications. A decision on applications submitted by the deadline will be taken within 14 days. The sending institution will inform the applicants of the result. If the budget available is exceeded, the awarding institution reserves the right to suspend the application with immediate effect, to change the application criteria or to reject the application.
