The University of Debrecen announces a call for applications for mobility for study purposes (part-time studies) within the framework of the Pannonia Scholarship Programme for the spring semester of the academic year of 2024/2025.

1. The aim of the call for applications

The aim of the competition is to enable students of the University of Debrecen to complete a compulsory or voluntary internship in a host institution in a partner country. The mobility for work placement abroad must be related to the student's studies and contribute to the development of the student's skills needed to find a job in the labour market.

2. Eligible applicants

Students enrolled at the University of Debrecen (bachelor, master, master's, doctoral and higher vocational education, full-time and correspondence courses) who have student status. Individuals with doctoral candidate status are not eligible to apply. Students in receipt of a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship are not eligible for long-term mobility during their studies.

3. Eligible activities

Eligible activities under this call for proposals are:

  • Long-term (2-12 months) mobility of active higher education students for compulsory or voluntary placements in a host institution abroad,
  • long-term (2-12 months) voluntary placement mobility of recent graduates in a host institution abroad within one year of graduation

Mobility must take place between 1 July 2024 and 31 August 2025.

5. Eligibility criteria

General conditions for participation

  • The student is an active student at the University of Debrecen, i.e. studying for a degree on a full-time or part-time basis. Applications for a recent graduate internship must be submitted while still an active student (before graduation).
  • The student must be a Hungarian citizen or hold a valid residence permit for the duration of the application and the period of the placement.
  • The internship may be carried out in a foreign host institution (company, public institution, non-profit organisation, higher education institution, etc.) which can provide an internship related to the student's studies and which has declared its intention to host the student in writing in advance. It is the responsibility of the applicant to identify and select the host institution and to obtain the letter of acceptance.
  • The traineeship abroad must be part of the student's degree programme in any study cycle and must be accepted by the sending institution and fully comply with the curricular structure. The process of credit acquisition and recognition should be set out in the mobility student's mobility learning agreement. (exception: mobility within 12 months after graduation)
  • The student has passed the institutional assessment.
  • The student has the necessary language skills (working language required by the host institution) and can provide credible evidence of this at the time of the assessment of the application.
  • The maximum cumulative duration of mobility is 12 months per training cycle.One-tier programmes cover two cycles, so the maximum cumulative mobility period for an unbundled course is 24 months.
  • A written study contract, agreed in terms of content, must be concluded before the start of study abroad. The activity during the mobility must fit in with the student's study plan.
  • The sending institution is obliged to fully accept the activities undertaken, completed and certified in the study contract.
  • At the end of the professional mobility period, the host institution/company abroad must issue a certificate of the training programme completed and the results obtained.
  • Students are enrolled as full students at their home institution during the period abroad and are entitled to receive study grants or other loans, but must also pay tuition fees and other fees at the home institution (exception: mobility within 12 months of graduation).
  • The student must be an active student at the sending institution until the end of the mobility (exception: mobility within 12 months after graduation).
  • In the case of placement mobility, faculties may impose additional specific restrictions, taking into account the specificities of each faculty.
  • The student must have an active student status at the sending institution until the end of the mobility (exception: mobility within 12 months after graduation, in which case the student's status will be terminated before the mobility starts). 

6. Documents required to submit an application

Attention! Documents must be submitted online in electronic format only (scanned originals in pdf format).

  • Online application: applications may be submitted from 15 April 2024.
  • Letter of acceptance - a written declaration from the host institution stating its intention to accept the student for a traineeship.
  • A certificate of credit for the semesters completed during the training (at least 1 semester). For Master's and doctoral programmes, if the applicant has not yet completed a semester, a certificate from the last semester of the previous Bachelor's or Master's programme may be submitted. The certificate must include the subjects completed and the scholarship index.
  • Proof of language proficiency of at least level B2 (language examination certificate of language proficiency in the language of study or certificate of language proficiency from the language lectorate).
  • A photocopy of your CV in English in Europass format.
  • Motivation letter stating the applicant's objectives.
  • In the case of PhD students, approval of the subject supervisor.
  • Proof of academic/DD work (optional).
  • Proof of student's public activities (optional).
  • Letter of recommendation (optional).

Important! Faculties and departments may impose additional restrictions on applicants. Please check the specific requirements for each faculty or department before submitting your application.

7. Conditions for outgoing student mobility for work placements:

  • A positive decision on the application by the relevant faculty committee and a positive assessment at institutional level. Documentary evidence of active student status for the semester of the placement (exception: mobility within 12 months after graduation).
  • A learning agreement with agreed content must be concluded before the start of the placement abroad. The learning agreement, signed by all three parties (student, sending university, host university), should include a detailed description of the placement at the host institution and the methods and criteria for supervision and evaluation of the placement.
  • Permission of the Faculty Studies Subcommittee (depending on the faculty).
  • Health- travel and accident insurance valid in the host country for the entire duration of the stay.
  • Professional liability insurance.

8. Grants

Funding rates

Applicants should note that the grant does not necessarily cover all the costs incurred during their stay abroad, which may need to be supplemented from other sources.
